Position Job Duties & Requirements

Student Helper (Venture Capital, Investment)

We are looking for student helpers to support the Start-up Investment Team for a 4-month part-time internship during the fall semester and one-month full-time during the winter break. Student helpers will gain hands-on exposure to the buy-side of the investment industry, working directly with our experienced team of investment professionals. This role is ideal for students who are interested in building a career in venture capital or other buy-side investment roles. Intern activities include analysing investment opportunities, researching emerging sector themes, drafting investment committee memos, completing complex analytical projects, and supporting the administration of the funding program.

 Student Helper (Redbird Innovation Fund)

 

We are looking for sophomore and penultimate-year undergraduate students to support the Fund Management Team for a 3-5 month internship program during the fall semester and winter break.

Core Responsibilities & Exposure

As an intern, you will be deeply integrated into the strategic operations of RIF.  You will work directly under the Head of Investment and experienced finance professionals. 

About HKUST Redbird Innovation Fund

Launched in April 2024, the HKUST Redbird Innovation Fund with a fund size of HK$500 million committed by HKUST, seeks to create multiple venture investment funds in collaboration with investment partners and invest in the HKUST start-up companies focusing on Seed to Series A/B stages.

 Student Helper (AI and Robotics Clusters and RAISe+ Program)

 

The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) manages intellectual properties arising from HKUST research works; supports faculty and students in their endeavors to pursue university-industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization. OKT now invites candidates who are interested in Innovation and Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Business Development to work at the office.

Job Nature: Technology, Innovation, and Program Management

We expect candidates with a profound interest in:

Job Duties:

1.    Assist the Electronic, AI, Systems (EAS) group in executing Knowledge Transfer (KT) initiatives.
2.    Provide comprehensive support for the RAISe+ program and its associated projects.
3.    Develop and utilize AI tools to streamline team operations, expedite material preparation, and enhance overall KT activities.
4.    Provide administrative and secretarial support to EAS and RAISe+ team members.
5.    Assist in industry landscape data analysis and evaluation, including market sizing and competitor research.
6.    Prepare background research for collaboration activities with industry partners and universities, including exhibitions and events.
7.    Organize startup profiles and conduct background research on their business and industry sectors.
8.    Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements:

1.    AI Capability: Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience in using AI tools for productivity and operational efficiency.
2.    Presentation Skills: Excellent presentation preparation capabilities with strong delivery and communication skills.
3.    Tech-Enthusiast: Deeply interested in AI, Robotics, and emerging technology trends.

Eligibility:

-    Year 2 to 4 undergraduates preferred
-    Any majors in Business / Engineering (Year 1 students from SBM and SENG are also welcome), or majors in Information Systems / Operations Management.
-    Track record in AI skills and application development.
-    Proficient in written and spoken communication skills in both English and Chinese.
-    Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word processing.
-    Can-do spirit, active mind, and a strong sense of responsibility.
