The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) manages intellectual properties arising from HKUST research works; supports faculty and students in their endeavors to pursue university-industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization. OKT now invites candidates who are interested in Intellectual Property to work at the office.

Job Duties:

The Student Helper will support the IP Management Team in daily operations related to intellectual property administration, portfolio management, and technology commercialization. Key duties include:

Intellectual Property & Data Support

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Intellectual Property Management System (IPMS) , including data entry, record verification, and document organization
  • Support preparation and organization of IP‑related documents , including invention disclosures, patent filing records, correspondence, and internal reports
  • Perform basic data analysis and statistics compilation on IP portfolios, filings, grants, and commercialization activities for internal reporting

Research & Market Intelligence

  • Assist in industry research, competitor analysis, and technology landscape studies , including market sizing and benchmarking of comparable technologies
  • Support preparation of technology briefs and IP adoption materials for industry outreach and commercialization activities

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with document preparation, filing, and report compilation for OKT and IP Management Team
  • Support CRM‑related data entry and maintenance for industry contacts and engagement records (where applicable)
  • Provide general administrative support to IP Management Team as assigned

How to Apply

Academic Background

  • Current HKUST undergraduate or postgraduate student
  • Preferred disciplines include (but not limited to):
    • Life Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, preferably also with a discipline in Business or Business-related.
